2004 Blue Roan Stallion, Q-57357, ASH-180710
Sire: Acres Destiny (imp) Q-38061, ASH SM-135648
Dam: Staretta Chex Q-28642, ASH-155713 , (S: Docs Battler, D: Clover Foxy Lady)
Exy’s dam Staretta Chex, is an extremely well performed mare having won multiple Open, Ladies and Juvenile campdrafts, as well as numerous Cutouts, Challenges and Two-handed cuttings. She is by Docs Battler (Docs Spinifex (imp) x Commanders Zeal), and out of the great producing mare Clover Foxy Lady ( Easter Chex (imp) x Clover Jillaroo (imp))
Clover Foxy Lady is the dam of many successful performance horses, including possibly the greatest campdraft mare of all time, Roanies Chex (by Docs Spinifex (imp)).
Roanies Chex has won countless Open campdrafts including the Warwick Gold Cup, Chinchilla Grandfather Clock, Paradise Lagoons Open, and has been named 3 x ACA Open horse of the year.
Exy’s sire Acres Destiny (imp) is undoubtedly one of the most influential Cutting, Campdraft and Challenge sires this country has ever seen. In 2010 he was named ACA Sire of the Year for the third consecutive year.
With this quality of breeding behind him, it is no surprise that Kehls Exy Acres has been a high achiever in his own right.
2009 was his first year of competition and, campaigned by Jon Templeton of Kingaroy, he competed in Springsure, Monto, Paradise Lagoons and Cloncurry Challenges with a consistency which saw him place in the top ten at every outing.
2010 saw Exy and Jon continue this trademark consistency, achieving:
- 4th at Monto (an Open age event where Exy was competing against horses much older than himself)
- 2nd at Proston (another open age Challenge)
- 2nd at Paradise Lagoons
- 2nd at the Rocky Rush
In his entire Challenge career, Exy has never missed a final, or placed out of the top ten.
Due to being still a young horse, Exy has limited progeny on the ground, with 2010 being his biggest foal crop so far, and 2011 will be bigger again.
To date, his foals have been good sized, athletic, attractive types, with Exy’s affectionate, easy going attitude. He has thrown a good percentage of roan foals, and an interesting point to note is that Exy has been colour tested homozygous for the black (EE) gene, meaning regardless of mare colour he will never throw a chestnut foal - only bay, brown, or black. (Dilute mares may also produce other colours such as grulla, buckskin etc.)
